C.F. is an artist, musician and comics writer. He has refined and expanded his style, developing a formally rigorous freewheelin’ body of published ephemera, whether they be books, flexi-discs or mini-comics. The quality of line, the mysterious brush-like blotted pencil exercises, the swirls and grids of concentrated graphite detritus are reproduced page by page with great effect – capturing a sensuous gesture here, a breathless abstraction there. He stands as a spiritual heir to the dream masters of early 20th century Sunday pages, as well as a hero of underground comix scenes. Each panel and page is a thrilling piece of composition and a small-scale revelation of form. Each sign and symbol carefully chosen to complete an emotional circuit connecting the eyes to joy and horror.

C.F. (born Christopher Forgues in Eastern Massachusetts in 1979) lives and works in Brooklyn. He holds a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art. He has shown previously at New Image Art in Los Angeles, and at Rachel Uffner, Mountain Fold, CANADA Gallery and Beginnings in New York. His graphic novel series, Powr Mastrs, is published by Picturebox. His work was included in The Best American Comics 2009 and 2014 edited by Charles Burns. Since May 2011, he has published a monthly comic strip, Monorail High, in Mothers News, a monthly newspaper published in Providence.
