Dots tells the story of a couple of strange animals that one day literally bump into each other. They get mixed up in all kinds of adventures; they dance, they dissolve, transform and reincarnate. Dots, is a comedy weft with tragic, whereas shapes, forms, lines and of course dots of the ink depict the creatures journey through everyday life and various transformations into the unknown.

Gabríela Friðriksdóttir (1971) works in many media, creating installations where unfamiliar materials are combined with drawings, paintings, sculpture, and animated videos. Her works typically explore surreal and sometimes microscopic worlds where nature and dream-like fantasy mix with symbols and her own personal pantheon of gods.

Gabríela has held numerous exhibitions, in Iceland and abroad, including in the Migros Museum in Zürich 2006, Prospectif cinéma at the Pompidou Centre in Paris 2007, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo 2010, Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt 2011 and the Lyon Biennale 2013. She represented Iceland at the Venice Biennale in 2005 with an exhibition titled Versations Tetralogy.

Gabríela graduated from the sculpture department of the Icelandic College of Art and Crafts in 1997 and studied at the AVU Academy in Prague in 1998. She has been the recipient of various grants and awards, including a study grant from the Czech government, a grant from the Guðmunda S. Kristinsdóttir Fund in 2001, an honorary grant from Myndstef in Iceland, and a nomination to Ars Fennica, the Finnish art award, in 2013. She lives and works in Reykjavík.
