Loop the Loop is a series of pencil sketches exploring the great elasticity of a simple loop, as well as the of the varying volumes and dimensions a loop can possibly create.

Sketches have always been in the centre of Liang-Jung’s practice although most of her works are made with physical materials. ‘For me, personally, to sketch is like going on a date with a potential idea. Starting with a spark of chemistry, we later fine-tuned the proportion and curve back and forth to cultivate an affinity between us. Eventually we will realise whether we are compatible or not.’

Based in London, Liang-Jung Chen is a Taiwanese artist and designer working across objects, installations, performances and drawings. Deeply interested in socio-political analysis and material culture, her work is often informed by the intangible tension between artefacts and behaviours. Meanwhile, her background in industrial design allows her to bridge narratives with detail-oriented awareness. She is the founder of ii (initial initiatives), an interdisciplinary creative practice connecting dots across diverse mediums and cultures. The practice is a recipient of Dezeen Awards 2021 under the Homeware Design category.
