Whenever illustrator Joost Stokhof is traveling he’s always on the lookout for the smallest details that tell more than they seem to at first glance. Little moments or occurrences that are often overlooked tend to play a huge part in his work. The type of thing you will not see consciously, but will recognize once confronted with them through his drawings. These small pieces of information, assembled on a single page and often accompanied by fragments of text that pop up in his head while drawing, interact in non-linear narratives. Never revealing their true meaning, but always giving you just enough clues to unravel your own personal version of the story that takes place on the piece of paper in front of you. The drawings in his zine Kimono Days Are Over were made during a three week trip through Japan.
The original printed edition of this zine is sold out. It is available as electronic zine (ePub) for Apple devices from the link above. You may request the direct ePub file for other compatible devices ($2.99).
