Yves Netzhammer is a multidisciplinary artist best known for his distinctive visual language that spans video, installation, sculpture, and drawing. At the heart of his practice are his intricate and meticulously composed drawings, which serve as the conceptual foundation for his broader body of work.

Netzhammer’s drawings are often rendered in a precise, diagrammatic style, blending the mechanical with the poetic. They explore themes such as human consciousness, emotional ambiguity, and the fragile boundary between body and object. His stark use of line and space creates dreamlike, often unsettling narratives that question perception, memory, and identity. His works on paper function not only as autonomous pieces but also as blueprints for his moving-image and sculptural works, forming a unique system of thought that is both personal and universal.

The artist's work has been exhibited at the 52nd Venice Art Biennale in 2007, at SFMOMA in San Francisco in 2008, Palazzo Strozzi in 2009, the Liverpool Biennale in 2010, Minsheng Art Museum in Shanghai in 2012, Kunstmuseum Bern in 2012, MONA in Tasmania in 2013, the Kyiv Biennale in 2015, the installation for the atrium at LWL Münster in 2016, Museum Rietberg in 2014, the solo exhibition at the Fosun Museum in Shanghai in 2017 and at Haus Konstruktiv Zurich in 2022. His animated film Reiser der Schatten was released in cinemas in 2024.
