"For a while I’d been wanting to do a book collecting some of my small flower paintings together in a way that made sense, but the idea hung around a bit too long for it to stay exciting and fresh. But then one day I met a lady in a jewellery shop who told me about how, when she was recovering from a serious illness, she hung her collection of sun flower paintings on her bedroom walls. It wasn’t until she painted her walls bright green did the paintings start to really activate themselves in her room. I couldn’t get this image out of my head, and before long, it made sense to me how to make my flower book. It’s that now when I look at my book I think about how heavy a painting of a flower can be, how special colours can do certain things, and I can feel good about making flower paintings." Leon Sadler

Leon Sadler works in all kinds of media; soft sculpture, ceramics, comics, painting... work based on a rigorous drawing practice and buzzing with "Alive Energy". His work has been exhibited and published internationally, and he is currently living/working from his caravan somewhere in the UK. He is the co-editor of the Mould Map series, and publishes comics through his label Famicon Express.
